Proverbs Day 16

Don't Stop Learning!! That is all.

Proverbs 4:7  Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.
And with all thy getting get understanding. (NKJV)

Prov 10:14 Wise men store up knowledge,
But with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand.

Prov 19:8 He who gets wisdom loves his own soul;
He who keeps understanding will find good.

Prov 20:15 There is gold, and an abundance of jewels;
But the lips of knowledge are a more precious thing.

Prov 21:11 When the scoffer is punished, the naive becomes wise;
But when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

Prov 24:3 By wisdom a house is built,
And by understanding it is established;
4 And by knowledge the rooms are filled
With all precious and pleasant riches.

Prov 24:5 A wise man is strong,
And a man of knowledge increases power.
6 For by wise guidance you will wage war,
And in abundance of counselors there is victory.

Mankind is born with the ability to learn and adapt. We are not born with knowledge. It is learning that lessens the ignorance that we are all born with in our lives. The ability to “store up knowledge” is a sign of wisdom. And if I am not wise, the bible says “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5)” Not only will God help you with understanding His word, He can help you with understanding your classes. I have hear testimonies of Him doing just that.

The bible says “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” In an effort to have balance in our lives, this should be applied to both our spiritual needs and natural needs. Imagine the untrained electrician or carpenter. Or better, the untrained paramedic or ER physician. We would not want these people doing any work for us or on us. In the same way, when it comes to ministry we are to constantly endeavor to put ourselves in a position where we are trained and ready to do things for God.

In my 14 years of teaching Sunday School to teenagers, I noticed that some of the best Sunday School students were actually good students in school. Also, I noticed in a few cases, those who were average students who began to apply themselves to learning scripture, became students of the word and college students as well. I believe once you start applying yourself in one area, the same drive can flow over into other areas of life. I believe a person that is willing to apply themselves to better their lives naturally can use the same tenacity in learning about God also. After all what will profit us more in the long run? Learning about social sciences and engineering? Or Learning about God? The bible is a book that is like no other. Every time you read it, the author is present.
