Day 9: The Arm of the Lord
by From the Pastor's Desk on March 9th, 2013

Isaiah 53 Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
The hand or arm was a metaphor in ancient times referring to the strength, might, power and/or authority of a person. For instance, the right hand of God is a Hebrew idiom  that refers to the fullness of His power. Isaiah 53, one of the more familiar Messianic prophecies, begins by referring to the Messiah as the Arm of the Lord. Jesus is the fullness of God’s power revealed in the frailty of flesh.

Jesus was a historical figure. That is easily proven by historians. He was a good teacher. His words are revolutionary and admired by many. He was of Jewish descent. He was murdered on a cross. All of these things are accurate descriptions of who he was. But the scripture asks the question. To whom has the Arm of the Lord been revealed? Jesus is definitely all of the things that were just mentioned. But it takes revelation to understand that in addition to what He was, HE IS, HE LIVES, HE REIGNS!

Jesus IS the Arm of the Lord!
